Jeremy Griffith is an Australian biologist who has dedicated most of his life to solving the greatest of all human questions: Why do we humans behave the way we do? Despite our capacity for love why do we experience so much conflict, suffering, and alienation?
Born and raised on a sheep station in rural New South Wales, Jeremy had a deep connection to nature from an early age shaped by and a passion for understanding the biology of life and animals in particular.
Jeremy Griffith attended Geelong Grammar School — one of the world’s most respected schools — and went on to study science at the University of New England.
But Jeremy’s true calling lay elsewhere.
In 1967, Jeremy paused his studies to embark on a six-year search to save the Thylacine, or Tasmanian Tiger, from extinction. Though unsuccessful, this journey became the most thorough investigation into the species’ fate and featured in Natural History and Australian Geographic.
After completing his degree in zoology at the University of Sydney, Jeremy founded a successful furniture design business. But at age 27, he had a profound realisation: the real issue wasn’t saving animals or designing ideal furniture — it was understanding ourselves.
This insight led Jeremy Griffith to dedicate his life to exploring the biology and psychology at the heart of the human condition — our species’ struggle with the duality of good and evil.
In 1983, Jeremy founded the World Transformation Movement (WTM), a not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting research into and understanding of the human condition. His work culminated in the publication of several books, including the 2004 bestseller A Species In Denial and his 2016 “summa masterpiece”, FREEDOM: The End of the Human Condition.
“Jeremy Griffith is an Australian biologist but his range of interests and his store of knowledge seem almost infinite… The chapter called Resignation is brilliant in its insight into human nature and what we call the idealism of the young…”
Review of ‘A Species in Denial’
Jeremy Griffith’s work presents a transformative, biological explanation of human behaviour — that reconciles our instinctive selflessness with our often selfish actions. It explains that our behaviour is not flawed but the result of a psychological conflict that can now be understood and healed.

Sebastián Cillo, founder of WTM Buenos Aires, describes his experience with Jeremy Griffith’s work:
“As a physical therapist, I’ve spent over 20 years helping people manage chronic pain and stress. But nothing has brought more clarity and relief than discovering biologist Jeremy Griffith’s work.
When I first encountered FREEDOM, I was sceptical. But after watching THE Interview, something deep inside me resonated. I read the book—and everything changed. The explanation of the “Resignation” stage in adolescence, when we begin to feel disconnected from our ideals, was compelling. It helped me understand myself and others in a completely new way.
Jeremy’s biological treatise is not just knowledge — it’s authentic truth. It’s a compassionate, science-based explanation that brings peace, coherence, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Jeremy’s writings, including FREEDOM, are freely available at www.HumanCondition.com. I encourage you to explore this life-changing information. Watch THE Interview. Read the book. Take your time. And if it resonates with you, reach out — I’d love to connect.
We can transform our understanding of ourselves and build a more compassionate world.
With gratitude and hope,
Sebastián Cillo
